چکیده

Establishing relationships between the chemical structures and their activities or properties are crucial to achieve a goal, doing better and fewer experiments. The quantitative description of the relations is the so-called quantitative structureactivity/property relationships (QSAR and QSPR) [Gedeck et al. 2008, Yap et al. 2007]. QSAR studies express the biological activity of compounds as a function of their various structural descriptors and describe how variation of the biological activity depends on change of the chemical structure. If such a relationship can be derived from the structure-activity data, the model equation allows chemists to say with some AbsTRACT

Does chemometrics enhance the performance of electroanalysis?

This review explores the question whether chemometrics methods enhance the performance of electroanalytical methods. Electroanalysis has long benefited from the well-established techniques such as potentiometric titrations, polarography and voltammetry, and the more novel ones such as electronic tongues and noses, which have enlarged the scope of applications. The electroanalytical methods have...

Overview and Recent Advances in Partial Least Squares

Partial Least Squares (PLS) is a wide class of methods for modeling relations between sets of observed variables by means of latent variables. It comprises of regression and classification tasks as well as dimension reduction techniques and modeling tools. The underlying assumption of all PLS methods is that the observed data is generated by a system or process which is driven by a small number...

Gan, Heng-Hui and Soukoulis, Christos and Fisk, Ian D. (2014) Evaluation of atmospheric pressure chemical ionisation mass spectrometry analysis linked with chemometrics for food classification - a case study: geographical provenance and cultivars classification of monovarietal

In the present work, we have evaluated for first time the feasibility of APCI-MS volatile compound fingerprinting in conjunction with chemometrics (PLS-DA) as a new strategy for rapid and non-destructive food classification. For this purpose 202 clarified monovarietal juices extracted from apples differing in their botanical and geographical origin were used for evaluation of the performance of...

Qsar study of anthranilic acid sulfonamides as inhibitors of methionine aminopeptidase-2 using different chemometrics tools

Quantitative relationships between molecular structure and methionine aminopeptidase-2 inhibitory activity of a series of anthranilic acid sulfonamides derivatives were discovered by different chemometrics tools including FA-MLR, PCRA, GA-PLS. The quality of PCRA equation is better than those derived from FA-MLR. GA-PLS analysis indicated that the topological (IC4 and MPC06), constitutional (nf...

Scaled Predictor Envelopes and Partial Least-Squares Regression

Partial least squares (PLS) is a widely used method for prediction in applied statistics, especially in chemometrics applications. However, PLS is not invariant or equivariant under scale transformations of the predictors, which tends to limit its scope to regressions in which the predictors are measured in the same or similar units. Cook et al. (2013) built a connect between nascent envelope m...
